Keith Todd Kerrigan
Keith was born in Quesnel, British Columbia on March 1, 1966. He is a member of the Haida Nation, and his family originates from the village of Dadens on Langara Island in Haida Gwaii but in the past 3-4 generations have lived in the village of Old Massett, also on Haida Gwaii.
Keith was initially taught basic Haida designing by his uncle, Claude Davidson in 1980. Since that time he has spent time working in argillite, from 1980 to 1988 before progressing on to wood, silver and gold. He has primarily worked in silver and gold and has been guided in his work by his cousins, Reg and Robert Davidson.
Keith apprenticed with Robert Davidson in White Rock, British Columbia from December, 2003 to May, 2005 and since this period of study has produced works in silver, gold, wood and paint.
Keith is a member of the Yaghulaanaas Clan, and comes from the Shark house. The main crest of his clan is the Raven, and the crests that this clan is entitled to use include, the Killer Whale, Grizzly Bear, Shark, Woman in the Moon, Hawk Moon, Raven, White Raven, and Raven Finned Killer Whale.
Keith continues to work in developing his understanding of Haida culture and Haida art and hopes to continue the tradition of his family in producing quality works in all media.
